Stella Trujillo Varey, June 29, 1939 – November 14, 2023
Stella Trujillo Varey, a cherished member of the South Bay community, gracefully departed this world on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Born in New Mexico in 1939, she and her family soon became integral parts of the South Bay fabric. Stella dedicated 40 years of her life to serving our community as an early childhood education teacher and mentor in the South Bay Adult School system, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless preschool-age children and their families.
Known as one of the most affectionate souls ever encountered, Stella earned a reputation for making the world a brighter place through her boundless love and impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy resonates in the hearts of those who experienced her warmth and kindness. Her two classroom rules were to be kind and to be safe. We can all benefit from reflecting on those as we navigate this world
Stella's lessons in life were a beacon of positivity, encouragement, and love that inspired and uplifted all who were touched by her presence. Even on her final day, she continued to share her wisdom, leaving an enduring imprint on those around her.
Survived by her siblings, Emily, Ben, Patti, and Terry, Stella is remembered with love by her three children, Don (Diana), Rick (Karen), and Kim (Dan), as well as her three grandchildren, Danielle, Jake, and Sarah, and her great-grandson, Sullivan.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Stella's name to the Friendship Foundation are warmly welcomed. She specifically asked to help children with disabilities in underserved communities throughout South Bay. All funds donated will go to support this population.
